Fast and focused, Jes Gram-Hansen debuted on the World Match Racing Tour in 2003, even though was much that came before winning his title as “one of the best match race skippers of his generation”, Gram-Hansen continued to secure several World Match Racing Tour events as both skipper and tactician before moving into the Americas Cup arena.
Gram-Hansen is no stranger to success at the highest level of professional racing, claiming second place in the ISAF World Match Race ranking in 2003 and, following two successful years with the Russell Coutts Racing Team as tactician, he went on to win the title of “Best starting helmsman” for the 32nd America’s Cup Italian Team Mascalzone Latino Capitalia. At the end of the Louis Vuitton Cup, Jes Gram-Hansen commented: “After the World Match Racing Tour achievements, it gave me the competitive edge and drive to move onto the 32nd Americas Cup. It was a challenge, the bigger the team the tougher it is to get the result but communication was key to learning to operate on an international level. This gave me the base I needed to focus on starting up my own team, which was the ultimate goal.”
With the shared desire to move into the world of high performance multihulls, in 2011 Gram-Hansen and Rasmus Kostner announced their ambitious goal of co- founding a professional Extreme Sailing Series team.
The following year in Qingdao, China, the duo were delighted to announce a partnership with global technology brand SAP as their title sponsor.
Gram-Hansen is Co CEO/Skipper and Helmsman for their SAP Extreme Sailing Team. Both Jes Gram-Hansen and Rasmus Kostner are well regarded on their circuit and for their focus on performance, technology and the future of sailing.
