Rasmus Kostner’s passion for sailing was ignited at the age of 7 when he started sailing his own Optimist. Taking every opportunity to be out on the water competing in club racing on weekends, Rasmus soon became a member of the Danish National Sailing Team, winning several youth National Championships and moving on to compete internationally.

Kostner joined forces with Jes Gram-Hansen and the pair sailed to the top of the ISAF World Match Racing Series rankings. A pivotal point in Rasmus’s professional career was teaming up with multiple America’s Cup winner, Russell Coutts, on the Match Race and RC44 circuit. After an impressive stint with Russell Coutts, Rasmus joined the Italian Team Mascalzone Latino Capitalia, challenger for the 32nd America’s Cup in Valencia, Spain 2007.

In 2008, Rasmus went from the Americas Cup inshore spectacular to join the winning offshore Volvo Ocean Race Team Ericsson, as tactician for in-port racing. In 2009 Kostner achieved another lifelong goal, becoming a founder of the first Sailing Academy in Denmark with a mission to teach talented young sailors to race and campaign more professionally.

With long term sailing partner Jes Gram-Hansen, Kostner then turned his focus to Extreme 40 multihulls, with the intent to master and win the inshore Extreme Sailing Series. With a passion of innovation and technology in sport Rasmus is proud to work with the global giant in co-innovation SAP as title sponsor of their Extreme Sailing Series entry.

Rasmus Kostner is Co-CEO, Skipper and Tactician for the SAP Extreme Sailing Team.
